The team delivers fundraising aid to Phortse

The team reached Phortse to deliver the shelter tents, tarpaulins, printer for the school and a large cash donation. Goldie was there for all the formalities.
There will be more photos to come once wifi access improves - it's a bit slow and patchy where they are at the moment.

Apparently Goldie had a hard time leaving the children at Phortse - his new friends were keen for him to stay.

From Lukla to Namche

The real journey has begun with the team walking from Lukla to Monjo where they visited a school and stayed the night and then on to Namche. The altitude is getting pretty high - about 3400m above sea level so they've had a rest day to acclimatise.
The team crossed the new bridge the one at the top!
A scary spot for a photo
At the school in Monjo - the classroom looks very different to the classrooms at Goldfields.
Waiting to go through security checks at the entrance to Sagamartha National park.
Namche Bazaar - a bazaar is a market. Namche is a market town.
First glimpse of Mt. Everest as the clouds clear away.

Goldie visits a traditional Sherpas home.

This is the kitchen area of an old home, they would make their own cheese, butter, wine & yoghurt!

Porters carrying roofing iron to Namche

Each man carried 18 sheets up to Namche, Goldie carried just his bag & needed a big nap in the afternoon!

Namche market

We brought yaks cheese, bananas & tomatoes, all delicious!

Goldie relaxes in Namche

Scary footage of Lukla airport

From Kathmandu to Lukla

The team adventured out into the chaos of Kathmandu for a bit of shopping before getting a decent nights sleep and taking one more flight to Lukla - Lukla is quite a famous airport can you find out anything about it?
Crazy Kathmandu.
The scary runway at Lukla.
The little plane that got the team from Kathmandu to Lukla.
Quieter streets in Lukla.
A break and a cuppa at a Tea House before setting off on the first part of the trek.

The team may not have wifi access all the time from now on - so you might have to wait for the next update.

Goldie Bear in transit

Goldie's spent a lot of time in airports and planes over the last couple of days and he's finally made it to Nepal and a hotel in Kathmandu.
Chilling with Kate.
All the ex-Goldfields kids.
Some of the team looking weary from all the travel.
Finally in Kathmandu.
Goldie's view from the hotel in Kathmandu.  Any ideas about what's on the strings hanging from the buildings?

They've made it to Singapore

Looks like Singapore is a wee bit bigger than Cromwell.
The bridge is flasher too.
Can you find out the population of Singapore?

Goldie's traveling companions

Here's the team charged with looking after Goldie on his big adventure.
From left to right Angelina Rollston, Jack Harrison, Hazel Gibson, Jack Hawkins, Kate Guildford and Georgia Haggerty.
